Sunday night's matchup is a rematch of an early season 2-1 road win by the Barons over the Flames. The Flames, who captured the Northeast Division title, feature one of the bright young stars of the US youth national team in Charlie Davies. Davies was held in check for the majority of the June 4 match, but he eventually broke through late and scored an impressive individual goal. Combined with fellow strikers Charles Altcheck (6 goals in 9 matches) and Frederick Schramm (11 goals in 13 matches), the Barons backline will be tested.

However, the Flames have struggled to end the season. They narrowly defeated the Ottawa Fury at home on July 7, and since then have lost two straight including a surprising 2-0 loss on Saturday at the Reading Rage.

The Flames and Barons will kick off, no matter what happens in the Richmond/Williamsburg game, and regardless of what's on the line, it will still promise to be an entertaining match between two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
