One of the consistencies at Carey Stadium ("The Beach House") over the years has been winning. The Ocean City Nor’easters have the fourth-best home record in the country since 2003. Another consistency in recent years has been the talented Olivia Currier singing the national anthem.

Olivia, or “Ollie” as many call her, made her Beach House debut in 2017 at the age of 12. Fast forward to Friday night, she will mark her fifth season singing the national anthem for the Nor’easters.

Currier spends a lot of time in and around Ocean City, America’s Greatest Family Resort, especially in the summer. Singing the national anthem has taken her to places all over the world. She has sung for teams in every major sport, and big events like the Frozen Four (NCAA men's ice hockey championship) and the NFL Draft in Philadelphia. She even traveled outside the country and sang both the Star-Spangled Banner, and O'Canada for the Toronto Raptors (NBA) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL). She even sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" at a Philadelphia Phillies (MLB) game and traveled to Dublin to sing the Irish national anthem in Gaelic at a Sean Keane concert (famous Irish fiddler).

Ocean City fans have gotten to see her grow up in front of their eyes over the last half decade.

Next weekend, she will graduate from Merion Mercy Academy High School.

“My high school experience has certainly been an abnormal one, as anyone my age can attest to,” said Currier. “The highlights of my senior year have been captaining my school's tennis team this fall and participating in musical theater in the spring. Additionally, my trip to New York City to sing for the Rangers is a memory I will never forget. It's so hard to believe that I'm graduating next week, these four years have really flown by!”

Ollie will begin her college career this fall. When she enrolls at Villanova University there will be a familiar face when she gets there. Her twin brother, Brendan.

“I'm thrilled to be attending Villanova next year as a Communications major with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism,” said Currier. “I love sports, so I'm hoping that one day I can work as a sideline reporter or on a broadcast team. In college, I plan to keep my love of music alive by pursuing a theater minor. And, of course, I'd like to continue singing the anthem whenever I'm able.”

This past year, she has added some incredible additions to her anthem singing resume over the last year. She sang at home games for the Philadelphia Union (MLS), the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA), the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL), and the New Jersey Devils (NHL). While all were exciting in their own way, the biggest highlight was getting to sing at “The World’s Most Famous Arena”.

Madison Square Garden.

Ollie sang in front of a sold out crowd at a New York Rangers game and it was special.

“I've sung the anthem hundreds of times and experienced some incredible venues, but nothing could've prepared me for the atmosphere at Madison Square Garden,” said Currier. “The crowd was electric from the moment the doors opened, and brimming with excitement all throughout both of my anthems. To my disbelief and sheer joy, by the time I got to the end of the National Anthem, the cheering was so loud I could barely hear myself. All I could think of in the moment was how surreal it all felt, and how lucky I am that I get to do what I do.”

For someone who loves to sing and perform, and loves sports, singing the anthem just combines the best of both worlds. And Ollie doesn’t take any of that for granted.

“I have so many incredible memories from my anthems," said Currier. "I especially love it when I get to travel to new cities and experience the crowds in different arenas. In the past eight years, my family and I have traveled across the country, to places such as Boston, Orlando, Raleigh, Pittsburgh, New York, and Washington D.C. Every time, I am always aware of how blessed I am to have such unique opportunities and spend quality time with my family."

On Friday night, Ollie will kick off her fifth season back at Carey Stadium.

“I love the atmosphere of singing at the Beach House,” said Currier. “Watching the Nor'easters play has definitely made me a soccer fan. I also love the people, the entire staff has been so kind to me and has made my experience truly special.”
