Nor'easters Back To PDL Action Against Northern Virginia
Ocean City Looking For First League Victory Of The Season
After their weekend spent in Maryland for the National Amateur Championships, the Nor’easters return to PDL action this weekend with a Mid-Atlantic Division clash against Northern Virginia Royals. The Boys travel to Westfield High School looking to build upon their opening day tie at Long Island Rough Riders.
The Royals have endured a mixed start to the season on their return to the Mid-Atlantic Division, with a 2-2 tie at Baltimore Bohemian sandwiched between heavy defeats against Jersey Express and NJ LUSO. One player who has stood out so far, and the Nor’easters will have to be particularly aware of, is forward Bryan Piriz, who has scored two of the Royals’ three goals this year to take his place as their leading points scorer. Due to the Royals playing a lot of their games in the South Atlantic Division, in which they finished third last season, they don’t share a lot of history with Ocean City, although what they do is positive as they hold a 3-0-1 all-time record in games between the teams.
With the Nor’easters’ participation in the Open Cup and National Championships over Coach Oswald’s team can now put all of their attention on the league, as they know victories in their two games in hand will put them joint top of the Mid-Atlantic Division. With such an incentive to play for the boys will be looking to find the consistency that has eluded them thus far this season and put out a marker to the rest of the league on Saturday. Look out Northern Virginia, the storm is coming.
