Nor'easters finish weekend unbeaten at the Beach House after 3-1 win over FA Euro (VIDEO)

It was a big weekend for the Ocean City Nor’easters as they earned four out of possible six points at Carey Stadium ("The Beach House") against two difficult division opponents. On Friday, they earned a controversial scoreless draw with the New York Red Bulls Under-23s, and followed that up with a 3-1 win over FA Euro New York on the strength of a Deri Corfe brace.

With the win, the Nor'easters move up the standings to fourth place in the Mid-Atlantic Division, just three points out of the division's second playoff spot.

The weekend began on Friday when the Nor’easters hosted the Red Bulls Under-23s. The match finished scoreless, but featured a controversial finish. In extra time, the Nor’easters had what would have likely been the game-winning goal disallowed due to a handball in the box. It was a questionable call that likely cost Ocean City all three points, and while they did not play their best soccer of the season, they played well enough to win.

Jan Hoffelner (St. John's / Frankfurt, Germany) was the man of the match as he made seven saves to earn the club's first clean sheet of the season.

On Sunday night, it was a completely different story. The Nor’easters came out firing, creating chance after chance but unable to put the ball in the back of the net in the opening half. After missing on a chance moments earlier, it would be FA Euro who would find the back of the net first. The ball was won at midfield and FA Euro moved quickly on a counter attack with Karamba Jannehin scoring his third goal of the year to make it 1-0 just before the halftime break.

The intensity did not stop, however, as the physicality and ruthless play continued in the second half.

The Nor'easters leading scorer Deri Corfe (Wright State / Chester, England) would tie the game in the 61st minute. Brandon Smalley (Florida Tech / Bridlington, England) gained the ball and beat a couple of defenders down the right side of the field. Smalley then sent a through ball in the air to Corfe who brought the ball down with his head and launched a shot from an angle and beat the goalkeeper. It was Smalley's team-leading third assist of the season.

Corfe would give Ocean City the lead in the 77th minute which started with an FA Euro foul near midfield. Corfe received the ball in the box and laid it off to Claudio Repetto (Coastal Carolina / Genova, Italy) just outside the box. Repetto then played it back to Corfe, who beat two defenders and slotted the ball into the corner of the goal for his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Corfe, who is ranked in USL League Two's Top 50 prospects list at No. 30, moves up in the history books. His two goals give him 12 career goals for Ocean City, which ranks 7th on the club's all-time goalscoring list, passing Ryan Richter (2008-2010).

Repetto would put the game away in the 90th minute when the Italian scored his second goal of the season ....

With the win, the Storm improve to 9-0-1 all-time against FA Euro (5-0-0 at Carey Stadium) dating back to the first meeting between the clubs in 2013. Ocean City also remains unbeaten at home this season, including exhibition games. The Storm are unbeaten in their last five games at the Beach House dating back to last season.

The Nor’easters continue their playoff push this weekend back at Carey Stadium with two more home games against Lehigh Valley United on Friday (June 28, 7 p.m.) and on Sunday (June 30, 7 p.m.) against the Cedar Stars Rush.
