MORE: Ocean City Nor'easters' 2019 USL League Two schedule
The Ocean City Nor'easters are proud to announce four additional home games to the club's 2019 schedule. The Nor'easters will take a break from their USL League Two schedule to play all four of these exhibition games in front of their home fans at Carey Stadium (aka: The Beach House) in Ocean City, N.J.
One of the most anticipated matchups of the four will feature the first-ever meeting between the Nor'easters and second-year National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) club Atlantic City FC.
Ocean City will play two other NPSL clubs in the Philadelphia Lone Star FC, and FC Montmouth, and the 2017 American Soccer League (ASL) champion Philadelphia Fury.
All of these exhibition games, like all of the Nor'easters' home games at the Beach House, are scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Nor'easters will use two of the exhibition games as a warm-up for the 2019 USL League Two season.
The week before the Nor'easters' season opener, they will take on the Philadelphia Fury on Saturday, May 11. The Fury are owned by Matt Driver who was the first head coach in Ocean City's club history from 1997-2002 when the Nor'easters were a professional team known as the South Jersey Barons. Driver remains the winningest head coach in club history with 53 wins. If current head coach Tim Oswald earns seven league wins during the 2019 season, he will break Driver's club record.
A few days later, on May 14, the Storm will host FC Monmouth, a second-year NPSL club who enjoyed a strong inaugural season last year. FCM had a 6-3-1 record and qualified for the playoffs, where they fell to FC Motown, the team that lost the league championship game. They play their home games in Red Bank, N.J.
The Nor'easters will be five games into the league schedule when they host their third friendly of the year on Friday, June 7. It will be a long-awaited meeting with Atlantic City FC who kicked off their inaugural season in the NPSL last year just up the Jersey Shore. They finished with a 5-5-0 record in the very competitive Keystone Conference. It will be a homecoming for Atlantic City's general manager and president of youth development Jeremiah White. White played for the the Nor'easters during their first year as a USL League Two team (2003) and was the first Ocean City player to be drafted by a Major League Soccer team and the first to earn a cap with the United States Men's National Team.
On July 10, a few days before the Nor'easters' regular season finale, they will host the NPSL's Philadelphia Lone Star FC. Last year, they were known as Junior Lone Star and finished with an 8-2-0 record in the Keystone Conference and qualified for the postseason.
The two clubs have a history as Lone Star's team that competes in the Philadelphia Premier Soccer League traveled to Ocean City for a First Round game in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in 2017.The Nor'easters defeated the Philly club by the score of 3-1 with goals from Fredlin "Fredinho" Mompremier, Tyler Collishaw and Akeil Barrett. It was the Ocean City's 10th tournament win in club history.
