The PDL announced its Team of the Week for the ninth week this season with Ocean City Nor’easters forward Frank Tweneboa selected as Player of the Week. Tweneboa was a USL Super-20 League All-Tournament Team selection in 2011 and earned this award by scoring a hat trick and creating two more goals to help the Nor’easters win 5-0 over Central Jersey Spartans as the battle for the playoffs in the Mid Atlantic Division.

Tweneboa has been key to the teams success over the last year and a half that has seen the Nor’easters become Mid-Atlantic Division Champions in 2012 and a US Open Cup run in 2013 that saw them take the Philadelphia Union to injury time in their 3rd round game at PPL Park.

The Nor’easters number 2, Tweneboa, set up Ken Tribbett (honorable mention for PDL Team of the Week) for the opener in the 11th minute. Tweneboa then scored in the 35th minute to make it 2-0 by half time. His second goal made it 3-0 on the hour before adding an assist for Timothy Mulgrew with 16 minutes left on the clock. The crowd were chanting for Tweneboa’s hat trick and with only 10 minutes remaining he tucked away a penalty that he earned.

Tweneboa and company will be back on the field on July 4th at Carey Stadium, 6pm kick off. After the game the Nor’easters will be celebrating Independence Day on the Boardwalk with Ocean City, NJ’s famous firework spectacular.
