Nor'easters' home match vs. Reading United moved to Sunday night
Moving match at the Beach House to Sunday gives both teams an extra day of rest
This coming week features two of the biggest games of the 2017 PDL season for the Ocean City Nor'easters and one of them is undergoing a schedule change.
Saturday's home match at Carey Stadium against Reading United AC is being moved to the following day. The game will now kick off on Sunday, July 2 at 7 p.m.
The reason for the change is due to Thursday's rescheduled road game against Reading. The original game was postponed to Thursday due to a power outrage and a lightning delay last week. With the game now being played at Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa on Thursday, this leaves only one free day before Saturday's match.
"With the Reading game being rescheduled to Thursday we felt, as a club, that it would be best to give the teams a two-day window to recover instead of playing with only one day of rest, said Nor'easters general manager Giancarlo Granese Jr. "We're disappointed to have to make the change and we regret any inconvenience this may present to our fans, but we felt that this was a move that was in the best interest of our players."
With four regular season games left in the season, Ocean City is battling with Reading for second place in the Mid-Atlantic Division with the top two teams qualifying for the PDL playoffs. The back-to-back games against their rival could make or break the season.
