Nor'easters' season-opening exhibition game with Philadelphia Fury canceled
Ocean City's first exhibition game is now Tuesday, May 14 against FC Monmouth at the Beach House
The Ocean City Nor'easters are busy preparing for the 2019 USL League Two season, with many players wrapping up their respective college semesters and making their way to the Jersey Shore. The team has scheduled a pair of exhibition games but the team has learned that one of them has been canceled.
The Philadelphia Fury of the American Soccer League have informed the Nor'easters that they will be unable to field a team for Saturday's (May 11) exhibition game. The Fury, who compete in the American Soccer League, and are led by former Ocean City head coach Matt Driver, do not have enough players available to play the game.
With Saturday's game canceled, the Nor'easters will look forward to this Tuesday (May 14) when the club will host FC Monmouth of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) in an exhibition game at Carey Stadium ("The Beach House"). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Nor'easters are getting ready for the 2019 campaign under newly-named head coach Kevin Nuss, who recently took the job after Tim Oswald was forced to step down due to a health concern. The team has also announced its 2019 roster, that featured some talented returning players and some new faces that will help the Nor'easters challenge for USL League Two championship.
The club's regular season opener is Saturday, May 18 on the road against FA Euro New York. The Nor'easters' home opener is Saturday, June 1 at the Beach House when they host Evergreen FC. Check out the 2019 schedule here.
