Late goal keeps the Nor'easters women unbeaten

Veronica Garcia scored a late equalizer to save a point for the Women's team.

The Ocean City Nor'easters Women remain unbeaten as they drew 2-2 on the road with South Jersey Elite Barons.

Veronica Garcia locked the game up at two just four minutes before the final whistle. Garcia, a recent Ocean City High School grad, forced a turnover a few feet from the sideline in front of the Ocean City bench. She streaked towards the goal as opposing player pulled at her arm but the referee played advantage and Garcia maintained control of the ball. She sprinted toward the goal with only one thing in mind and hit a low shot from about 15 yards out. Her shot banked off the left lower part the post and knotted the game up.

Hannah Richman opened up the scoring in the 2nd minute as finished a perfect cross sent in by Despina Lianidis.  She hit the ball low and away to set the tone early.

The Barons weathered the Nor'easters storm of counter attacks and kept the game at 1-0. In the 28th minute, the Barons leveled the score to make it 1-1. South Jersey added a second goal eight minutes later to take the 2-1 lead.

In the second half, the Nor'easters made a switch in goal by bringing on Nicole Pallante. It was her first action of the season as Courtney Simpson started all three games thus far and played all 90 minutes in the previous two matches. Pallante made three key saved to keep the Nor'easters in the game before finding the eventual equalizer.
