Ocean City, NJ - The Harrisburg City Islanders and Ocean City Nor’easters are pleased to announce they are combining efforts with their team tryout scheduled for March 15. The tryout is open to all experienced soccer players who compete collegiately, professionally, or internationally.

The tryout will take place at “Rutgers University—Camden Community Park” in Camden, New Jersey on Sunday, March 15 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Times subject to change. All tryout participants should plan to arrive early for registration.

“I think the tryout will serve as a great platform for players to perform and be evaluated in front of a PDL and USL PRO staff at the same time.  With so much talent in the local area, we are very excited and honored to be able to offer this event to current college players and recent graduates looking to continue playing at the next level.  Coach Becher and I are thrilled about this unique opportunity and will have our eyes peeled for top players to supplement our current rosters,” Ocean City Nor’easters Head Coach, Tim Oswald stated.

The City Islanders are coming off of a successful 2014 campaign where they finished as finalists in the 2014 USL PRO Championship, losing to Sacramento Republic FC (2-0). With a record of 14-12-7 and competing with one of the youngest teams in the league, with an average age of 22 years old, the City Islanders entered the 2014 USL PRO playoffs as a number 8 seed. They then went on to defeat regular season champions, Orlando City in the quarter-finals of the USL PRO playoffs and moved on to defeat number four seed, Richmond Kickers, to move on to the championship match in Sacramento.

The common goal of the Islanders and the Nor’easters is to scout players, and those who stand out will be selected to participate in a trial with either club and possibly offered professional contracts.

Interested players can apply and register online HERE. The tryout is limited to 80 participants; therefore, all interested applicants are urged to apply no later than Friday, March 6. There is a registration fee of $60 for all applicants that register by March 6. Late applicants will only be reviewed upon availability. Late registration fee will be of $75.

“We are excited to partner with the Harrisburg City Islanders, they are one of the premier USL PRO clubs. I think the similarities between our clubs, our success and the challenges we face in our respective leagues, makes this a working relationship that’s beneficial to all parties and this combined tryout is a great start,” Nor’easters General Manager, Kevin Nuss, said.

All student-athletes must confirm eligibility to participate with their respective college, university, or the NCAA.

The City Islanders professional tryout delivers elite competition and many in the history of the franchise have reached Major League Soccer status. Since 2009, the City Islanders have sent an average of two players per season into the MLS.
