The Storm Battle Bohemians on Wednesday

Noreasters travel to Baltimore looking for second straight win

Ocean City will square off against the Baltimore Bohemians for the first time this season, hoping to pick up a road victory in Charm City against on of the Mid-Atlantic Division’s newest, but already well-established franchises.

Ocean City, NJ - Founded in 2011, the Baltimore Bohemians are one of the most recent additions to the PDL Mid-Atlantic Division. Drawing their team colors from the distinct Maryland state flag, the Bohemians play home matches at Calvert Hall College Preparatory High School in Baltimore. Competing in just their third season, Baltimore’s best campaign was last year, where they finished the season with a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Nor’easters at Carey Stadium, catapulting the team into a second place Mid-Atlantic Division finish, just behind Ocean City. With that second-place division result, the Bohemians qualified for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Baltimore scored 42 regular-season goals last year, the most among all PDL teams. Just as the Nor’easters have a partnership with professional English club Reading F.C., the Bohemians have partnered with Bohemian F.C. of the League of Ireland and are the official development partner of D.C. United.

The Bohemians have several notable alumni who were drafted by MLS teams, subsequently released, and currently play for USL Pro league franchises. London Woodberry was drafted by FC Dallas, Seth Moses by the Seattle Sounders, Christiano Francois by DC United, Pete Caringi by the Montreal Impact, and Christian Barreiro by the NY Red Bulls.

The Nor’easters lead their all-time record with the Bohemians 3-1-0 and will travel to Baltimore on Wednesday aiming to extend that lead and improve on their current 3-3-1 PDL record. Baltimore is 4-2-2 in PDL action this season, meaning that an Ocean City road victory would move the Nor’easters to within striking distance of the Mid-Atlantic Division lead, just 7 points behind current leader, Jersey Express. Players to watch for the Baltimore Bohemians are defender Ryan Tuck (3), who leads all Bohemian defenders in minutes, midfielder Austin Martz (6), who has four goals and four assists for Baltimore this season, and striker Kingsley Onwuka (14), the Bohemians leading point-getter with six goals and two assists. Game-time is 5:30pm.
