Ocean City Barons to form Youth Teams for the Shore Community

Ocean City, NJ - The Ocean City Barons are pleased to announce a Cape/Atlantic County High School soccer initiative. The aim of the program is to fill the current void for high school aged soccer players throughout the shore community, by starting Ocean City Barons Youth Teams.

"We feel the birth of the Ocean City Barons Youth Program is a natural progression for both the Ocean City Barons PDL team and the South Jersey Barons Youth Academy" said General Manager Neil Holloway. "Our aim is to offer high school players from the shore community a financially and geographically viable option to receive competitive training in a professional environment."

South Jersey Barons Youth Academy Technical Director Scott Middlemass added, "This program will give high school players of the Cape/Atlantic counties the opportunity to develop their skills in between high school seasons. The affiliation between the two clubs will also enhance the pool of players available for the South Jersey Barons Youth Academy."

The Ocean City Barons program is designed to cater to players across the Cape May/Atlantic counties. It is aimed at high school level players who are not quite ready for the step into elite programs such as the Super-Y-League, but want to experience a high level of training and development.

The program has been designed to allow players the opportunity to progress into the Barons Academy and Super-Y-League teams if their development warrants it and the player desires it.

All Ocean City Barons teams will play in competitive games as well as practicing in a high level, professional and structured training environment, following a similar curriculum to the Barons Academy.

The Ocean City Barons teams will be made up of players from the shore community and will act as development teams for local high schools. This is an excellent program for preparing players for their high school program.

The Ocean City Barons will hold tryouts during the high school season this fall, and aim to field teams at all high school age groups in Spring 2007.

The Ocean City Barons program is affiliated with the South Jersey Barons Youth Academy, and supported by Mainland United Soccer Association, and the Ocean City Soccer Travel Program.
